President Donald Trump sharply criticized Iran on Monday, calling its leadership "unbelievably duplicitous" after Tehran denied his claim that direct negotiations with the United States would resume the same day, according to CBS News.
However, Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei said Tehran has no plans for direct talks with Washington. He stated that Iran's current negotiations are only with Oman and are focused on establishing a temporary shipping route through the Strait of Hormuz.
Meanwhile, U.S. officials told CBS News there are no new negotiations scheduled. Instead, diplomatic engagement is continuing through existing indirect channels involving U.S. Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff, Jared Kushner, the U.S. negotiating team and Iranian representatives using mediators, the report said.
