President Donald Trump escalated his attacks on New York City mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani on Wednesday, calling the Democratic Socialist a “communist lunatic” and vowing to stop him from “destroying New York.”
Posting on Truth Social, Trump wrote, “As President of the United States, I’m not going to let this Communist Lunatic destroy New York. Rest assured, I hold all the levers, and have all the cards.”
The comment follows reports that the White House is considering stripping Mamdani of his U.S. citizenship as part of a broader crackdown on naturalized citizens accused of disloyalty, though no official action has been confirmed.
Mamdani, who was born in Uganda and is of Indian descent, has denied being a communist. Trump concluded his post by promising to make New York “Hot” and “Great” again.
