Trump Declares Iran Ceasefire Over After Fresh Strikes

U.S. military launched strikes against more than 80 Iranian targets after three commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz came under attack.

President Donald Trump said the U.S. ceasefire with Iran is "over" after both countries accused each other of violating last month's agreement and exchanged fresh military strikes, reported by CNBC.

Speaking alongside NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte at the alliance's summit in Ankara, Trump said he no longer wanted to negotiate with Tehran, calling further talks "a waste of time."

According to the report, the U.S. military launched strikes against more than 80 Iranian targets after three commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz came under attack.

U.S. Central Command said the operation targeted air defense systems, command networks, anti-ship missile capabilities and dozens of Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps boats to deter further attacks on commercial shipping.

Iran's foreign ministry condemned the strikes as a violation of the Memorandum of Understanding signed last month and vowed to defend the country's sovereignty.

Oil prices climbed sharply following Trump's remarks, reflecting renewed concerns over disruptions to energy supplies through the strategically important Strait of Hormuz.
