President Donald Trump says construction on a public golf course in Washington, DC, will begin immediately despite a federal judge’s order requiring advance notice before major changes, according to CNN.

Trump announced the move on Truth Social, arguing that the government does not need approval to proceed. The renovation plan has drawn opposition from golfers and preservationists concerned about losing an affordable public facility.

US District Judge Ana Reyes ordered the government to provide at least three days’ notice before making significant, irreversible modifications. She also prohibited further tree removal before October 26 after hundreds of trees were cut down without adequate notice, according to the report.

The administration has sought Reyes’ removal from the case, accusing her of bias against Trump. She rejected the request and disputed those allegations. Trump subsequently criticised the judge in his online post.

The proposed project could cost between $20 million and $49 million. Another court hearing was scheduled for Monday.
