President Donald Trump said Friday that the war with Iran will end only if Tehran accepts unconditional surrender. Writing on Truth Social, Trump declared there would be “no deal with Iran” unless the country fully capitulates, according to The Hill.

Trump said that after surrender and the selection of a new leader acceptable to the United States and its allies, Washington would work to rebuild Iran’s economy and stabilize the region.

The statement follows the killing of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei during early U.S. and Israeli strikes. Iran’s Assembly of Experts is now considering a successor, though Trump has publicly opposed the possible selection of Khamenei’s son, Mojtaba Khamenei.

The war has spread across the Middle East, disrupted global shipping routes, and pushed oil prices higher. Iran has responded with missile and drone attacks targeting U.S. forces and regional allies, while American and Israeli strikes continue against Iranian military and industrial targets.
