Trump Presses His America-First Vision At UN General Assembly

U.S. President Donald Trump

Seven years after being laughed at during his first United Nations address, President Donald Trump returns to the General Assembly this week with a far different reception.

Once derided by foreign leaders, Trump is now being courted as he reshapes global politics and questions the value of international institutions like the UN.

Trump has cut U.S. contributions to the UN, withdrawn from its Human Rights Council, UNESCO, and the World Health Organization, and criticized the body as bloated and ineffective.

His administration argues that global institutions have failed, especially on issues such as Israel, where the UN is backing a two-state solution opposed by Washington.

On Tuesday, Trump will meet leaders from Muslim-majority nations to discuss Gaza, as well as allies like the European Commission and Argentina.

His speech is expected to highlight American strength, reject “globalist decay,” and reinforce his vision of direct, leader-to-leader diplomacy.
