President Donald Trump lashed out at Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell on Thursday, just one day after the central bank voted 9–2 to hold interest rates steady.
In a fiery post on Truth Social, Trump wrote: “Jerome ‘Too Late’ Powell has done it again!!! He is too late, and actually, too angry, too stupid, and too political, to have the job of Fed Chair.”

Trump accused Powell of costing the country “trillions of dollars” and mocked what he described as a botched renovation project under Powell’s watch. “Put another way, ‘Too Late’ is a total loser, and our Country is paying the price!” Trump added.
The attack underscores Trump’s growing frustration with the Fed’s decision to maintain rates at 4.25% to 4.5%, despite dissent from two governors and increasing political pressure to begin easing monetary policy. Powell has defended the decision, citing elevated inflation and a solid labor market.
