President Donald Trump has stated that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu "will not be arrested" in the United States, responding to renewed debate over an International Criminal Court warrant issued against the Israeli leader.
According to the report, Trump made the remarks on Truth Social after New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani described Netanyahu as "a war criminal" and said he belongs before the ICC in The Hague.
The report said the ICC issued an arrest warrant for Netanyahu in November 2024 over alleged war crimes related to the conflict in Gaza.
According to the report, uncertainty remains over whether Netanyahu will travel to the United States later this month for the funeral of Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham.
The report added that the issue comes amid broader political divisions in Washington over Middle East policy, including differing views on Israel's military actions and the approach toward Iran.
