Trump Says Contractor Error Behind Reflecting Pool Damage

President Donald Trump has continued to challenge the Justice Department's decision to drop a case involving damage to the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool.

Trump said Sunday that a "highly credible witness" had allegedly provided new information, while also acknowledging that some damage may have resulted from contractor error.

According to the report, U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro dropped the case against former Olympian David Hearn last week, citing insufficient evidence.

Pirro also said the damage appeared to have resulted from contractor mistakes during renovation work rather than deliberate vandalism.

Trump disputed the decision and urged the Justice Department to reconsider the matter. He argued that the contractor error occurred during rushed renovations ahead of July 4 but maintained that the resulting damage was minor.

Crews have begun refilling the Reflecting Pool and are preparing to repair its sealant.

Trump also said security cameras have been installed or are being installed around the site, while pointing to alleged graffiti near the pool as part of the broader dispute.
