President Donald Trump said Iran may be connected to an alleged attempt to crash a FlyDubai flight traveling from Dubai to Tel Aviv, citing information discussed during an extended briefing with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Israeli authorities are investigating whether the incident had any state-sponsored connection.
The wounded captain reportedly opened the cockpit door, allowing an off-duty pilot, crew members and passengers to enter and restrain the co-pilot.
The aircraft subsequently made a safe emergency landing in Tabuk, Saudi Arabia. An Israeli official identified the co-pilot as an Omani national.
Netanyahu said the suspect had undergone what he described as “Islamic radical indoctrination.” Israel has since increased security measures and checks for international pilots operating flights into its airspace while the investigation continues.
