Indian pilot Captain Smit Machchhar is being hailed globally as a hero after surviving a harrowing mid-air attack on a flydubai flight to Israel.
Operating flight FZ1073 with 174 people on board, Machchhar was allegedly stabbed multiple times by his co-pilot in a sudden attempt to crash the aircraft.
Despite bleeding profusely and fighting for control, Machchhar managed a critical final act: unlocking the cockpit door.
This vital move enabled passengers to rush the flight deck, overpower the attacker, and safely divert the plane to Saudi Arabia, averting a catastrophic disaster.
