Trump Says Patriot Missile Deal With Ukraine Still Under Discussion

Washington and Kyiv are still discussing the issue and no final decision has been made.

President Donald Trump said on Friday that the United States has not agreed to allow Ukraine to produce Patriot missile systems under license, signaling a shift from his earlier remarks supporting the proposal.

Speaking during a Cabinet meeting, Trump said the advanced military technology is difficult to share because it could eventually be used against the United States. He added that Washington and Kyiv are still discussing the issue and no final decision has been made.

The comments came days after Trump met Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy at the White House. Zelenskyy had described the meeting as productive and said Patriot production licenses remain a top priority for Ukraine's defense against Russian missile attacks.

According to the report, Trump had earlier indicated at a NATO summit that the U.S. would approve the licenses, but later told the Financial Times he was uncertain. Zelenskyy also said he discussed the issue with Vice President JD Vance and that both sides would continue negotiations.
