Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Thursday sharply criticized French President Emmanuel Macron’s decision to recognize a Palestinian state, calling it a dangerous reward for terror in the aftermath of the October 7 Hamas attacks.
“A Palestinian state in these conditions would be a launch pad to annihilate Israel—not to live in peace beside it,” Netanyahu wrote on X, adding that the Palestinians “do not seek a state alongside Israel; they seek a state instead of Israel.”
We strongly condemn President Macron’s decision to recognize a Palestinian state next to Tel Aviv in the wake of the October 7 massacre. Such a move rewards terror and risks creating another Iranian proxy, just as Gaza became.

Netanyahu also backed U.S. Special Envoy Steve Witkoff’s recent comments, calling Hamas the key obstacle to a hostage release deal. He said Israel, with U.S. support, is now considering alternative options to bring hostages home and eliminate Hamas’s rule in Gaza.
