President Donald Trump, asked about French President Emmanuel Macron’s move to recognize Palestine as a state, dismissed its significance. “What he says doesn’t matter. It’s not going to change anything,” Trump told reporters. “That statement doesn’t carry any weight.”

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Thursday sharply criticized French President Emmanuel Macron’s decision to recognize a Palestinian state, calling it a dangerous reward for terror in the aftermath of the October 7 Hamas attacks.

“A Palestinian state in these conditions would be a launch pad to annihilate Israel—not to live in peace beside it,” Netanyahu wrote on X, adding that the Palestinians “do not seek a state alongside Israel; they seek a state instead of Israel.”

Netanyahu also backed U.S. Special Envoy Steve Witkoff’s recent comments, calling Hamas the key obstacle to a hostage release deal. He said Israel, with U.S. support, is now considering alternative options to bring hostages home and eliminate Hamas’s rule in Gaza.
