Trump Targets Justices After Court Blocks Mail Voting Rule

President Donald Trump sharply criticized the Supreme Court Tuesday, one day after the justices blocked his administration’s effort to impose new restrictions on mail-in voting ahead of the midterm elections.

According to CNN, Trump said several justices he appointed during his first term, including Brett Kavanaugh, Neil Gorsuch and Amy Coney Barrett, were no longer the people he expected to serve on the court. None of the three publicly dissented from Monday’s ruling.

Justices Samuel Alito and Clarence Thomas opposed blocking the mail ballot rules. Trump praised the two as “legends” while criticizing other decisions that have frustrated his administration, including rulings involving birthright citizenship and tariffs.

Trump argued that some Supreme Court decisions have imposed significant costs on the country and accused certain justices of being unwilling to support his agenda.

The court has also delivered major victories for Trump, including a 2024 ruling granting presidents broad immunity for official acts and a recent decision allowing construction of his White House ballroom project to continue.
