According to the report, Trump claimed the pool's lining had been slashed over a 300-yard stretch and said the damage required crews to empty the basin for repairs. He also alleged that algae blooms affecting the recently renovated pool were caused by vandalism.

CNN reported that much of the water had been drained, exposing sediment, algae and debris. However, its crew said it did not observe obvious signs of the extensive gashes described by Trump, though fencing prevented access to the entire pool.

The report said at least three people have pleaded not guilty to property damage charges linked to allegedly removing paint from the pool. Former Olympic canoeist David Hearn has also pleaded not guilty to a separate destruction of property charge related to the site.
