President Donald Trump threatened military action against Oman if the Gulf nation interferes with US efforts involving Iran, as a 60-day ceasefire expired without formal negotiations.
Trump told Fox News that informal contacts with Iran’s Revolutionary Guard were underway but said Washington was not rushing toward a deal.
Shipping through Hormuz has nearly collapsed. Kpler data cited by Reuters showed only five cargo vessels crossed on Saturday and none on Sunday, compared with 31 the previous weekend. Overall traffic is down about 90% from prewar levels.
Trump also reiterated that Iran must not obtain nuclear weapons. Brent crude stood near $88.45 per barrel on Monday, while US crude traded around $81.79.
