Oman has been negotiating with Tehran over reopening the Strait of Hormuz, a major global oil route. Iran has denied direct talks with Washington and insists the waterway remains under its control.

Shipping through Hormuz has nearly collapsed. Kpler data cited by Reuters showed only five cargo vessels crossed on Saturday and none on Sunday, compared with 31 the previous weekend. Overall traffic is down about 90% from prewar levels.

Trump also reiterated that Iran must not obtain nuclear weapons. Brent crude stood near $88.45 per barrel on Monday, while US crude traded around $81.79.
