President Donald Trump welcomed Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to the White House on Tuesday with a full military ceremony, signaling a deepening partnership despite longstanding human rights concerns.
The event featured a flyover of U.S. fighter jets, a military band, and a red carpet — an unusually grand reception for a leader widely criticized for rights abuses and linked to the 2018 killing of journalist Jamal Khashoggi, according to CBS News.

Trump called MBS a “very good friend” and praised his leadership, while announcing U.S. plans to sell F-35 jets to Saudi Arabia. MBS, in turn, pledged to raise Saudi investment in the U.S. from $600 billion to nearly $1 trillion.

The crown prince also addressed the Khashoggi case, calling the killing “painful” but distancing himself from responsibility.
The visit included discussions on defense, AI infrastructure, business ties, and the Abraham Accords — areas Trump says will anchor a stronger U.S.-Saudi alliance.
