President Donald Trump sharply criticized Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in a Truth Social post on Tuesday, accusing him of jeopardizing peace negotiations with Russia by refusing to compromise on Crimea.

Quoting Zelenskyy’s statement in The Wall Street Journal — “Ukraine will not legally recognize the occupation of Crimea” — Trump called the stance “very harmful” and claimed the region was effectively lost under President Obama. “Nobody is asking Zelenskyy to recognize Crimea as Russian territory,” Trump wrote, “but inflammatory statements like this only prolong the war.”

Trump argued that Ukraine’s current strategy risks further loss and warned that without compromise, “he can fight for another three years before losing the whole country.” While reiterating that he has “nothing to do with Russia,” Trump said he wants to help end the war and claimed a peace deal is within reach if Ukraine’s leadership “gets it done.”
