The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating an air traffic safety incident involving President Donald Trump's Marine One helicopter and a commercial aircraft near Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport, reported by CNN, citing Reuters and air traffic control recordings.
According to the report, Marine One departed from the Ellipse near the White House on Tuesday afternoon while commercial flights continued operating nearby.
The controller later warned the helicopter crew about a departing regional jet. Marine One briefly held its position after confirming it had visual contact with the aircraft before continuing its flight to Joint Base Andrews, where Trump boarded Air Force One.
The report identified the other aircraft as Envoy Air Flight 3742, operated by American Airlines' regional subsidiary. Both aircraft landed safely. The FAA said the incident did not appear to involve a dangerous near-collision but remains under investigation.
