US President Donald Trump’s proposed $950 million presidential library in Miami is facing increased scrutiny after Democrats secured control of Congress in the November elections.

According to CBS News, lawmakers plan to investigate the project’s funding when the new Congress takes office in January.

The Trump Presidential Library Foundation, run by his son Eric Trump and son-in-law Michael Boulos, expects to raise $950 million by the end of 2027.

Its funding includes tens of millions of dollars linked to settlements involving ABC, Meta, X and Paramount. Japanese investment firm SoftBank also reportedly donated $50 million.

Questions have emerged over the proposed 47-storey development, including Trump’s suggestion that it could become a hotel. The project also faces a lawsuit challenging Florida’s transfer of valuable public land for the site.

Democrats have pledged to examine donor contributions, potential conflicts of interest and the proposed transfer of a Qatari aircraft to the foundation.
