Two police officers were shot and killed Sunday night while responding to a domestic disturbance in Tremonton, Utah, according to the Associated Press. A Box Elder County sheriff’s deputy and a police dog were also wounded but are recovering.
Authorities said the suspect opened fire on the first officer who arrived, then shot a second officer moments later. Bystanders persuaded the gunman to surrender, and he was arrested on charges of aggravated murder.
