The U.S. special operations forces have joined Ecuadorian troops in a joint mission targeting a suspected narco-terrorist network, reported by CBS News.
The operation, called Lanza Marina, focused on dismantling a coastal compound linked to Los Choneros, a major criminal organization involved in drug trafficking.
According to U.S. officials, American commandos played an advisory role, assisting Ecuadorian forces in operations against maritime smuggling routes.
The report said the mission is part of a broader push under President Donald Trump to expand counter-narcotics and counterterrorism efforts in the region.
Los Choneros, designated a terrorist organization by the U.S., has grown into a powerful network with international ties. Authorities say the group uses high-speed boats and global partnerships to sustain trafficking operations.
The joint action follows earlier U.S. strikes on suspected drug vessels. Analysts say the collaboration reflects a more aggressive strategy to disrupt organized crime and protect regional security interests.
