The report said these forces could support missions such as securing the Strait of Hormuz, targeting Iran’s oil infrastructure, or seizing enriched uranium stockpiles. More than 3,500 troops, including a Marine unit aboard the USS Tripoli, have already arrived, with further reinforcements expected.
While Trump has expressed optimism about ongoing negotiations, Iranian officials have denied direct talks and rejected U.S. proposals. The president warned that failure to reach an agreement could lead to strikes on key Iranian facilities.
U.S. Central Command declined to comment, but the deployments signal heightened readiness as the conflict enters its fifth week.
