U.S. forces carried out a round of strikes inside southern Iran on Wednesday, destroying a military facility and shooting down multiple attack drones as tensions persisted in the region.

According to reports from CBS News and CNN, U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) forces shot down four Iranian one-way attack drones operating near the Strait of Hormuz. A senior U.S. official, speaking on condition of anonymity, confirmed the military then struck a ground control station in the port city of Bandar Abbas that was preparing to launch a fifth drone.
The strikes followed an Iranian drone attack on an American commercial vessel attempting to navigate the blockaded waterway. Hours earlier, President Donald Trump dismissed Iranian claims of an imminent deal to reopen the shipping channel, saying Tehran is "negotiating on fumes."
Washington says the strikes are intended to enforce the April ceasefire. Iranian state media reported that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) responded by targeting an American airbase in neighboring Kuwait.
