The US Navy recruited Yeoman 2nd Class Joshua Kelley, who is a drag queen and identifies as non-binary, to be a "Digital Ambassador" in a pilot program from October to March. Kelley, also known as Harpy Daniels, was the first of five Navy Digital Ambassadors in the program. The aim of the program was to use digital platforms to reach a wider range of potential candidates for enlistment, as the Navy had seen a drop in recruitment. The Navy is evaluating the program's success and will consider its format for future recruitment drives.
