U.S. Strikes Iran After Apache Downing, Shattering the Truce

Washington hits air-defense sites near Hormuz overnight and Tehran answers with attacks on Gulf states, reigniting the war.

The United States struck Iranian air-defense, ground-control and radar sites near the Strait of Hormuz late Tuesday, a response Central Command called proportional after an Army Apache went down near Oman on Monday.

President Trump blamed Tehran, saying an Iranian drone hit the helicopter and the country must answer.

Within hours Iran fired on Bahrain and Kuwait and claimed a strike on a base in Jordan, while explosions hit several Iranian ports. The April truce, brokered only days ago, is effectively gone.
