Russian attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure triggered emergency power cuts in Dnipro and surrounding areas, leaving more than 350,000 people without electricity, according to regional officials and energy company DTEK.
Meanwhile, a Ukrainian drone strike set fire to an oil refinery in Russia’s Samara region. The facility reportedly produced jet fuel for Russian military forces.
He also warned of further Russian ballistic missile attacks and urged Western allies to provide additional air defence interceptors, particularly for Patriot systems.
The escalation follows deadly Russian strikes in Dnipro, where at least 20 people were killed in attacks on Thursday, according to officials.
Meanwhile, a local ceasefire in Kherson appeared to hold for a third day. Fresh US-brokered peace negotiations are expected next month in Abu Dhabi, although previous efforts have failed to secure a broader agreement.
