Iran has conditionally agreed to resume nuclear negotiations with the United States, marking the first potential talks since U.S. President Donald Trump ordered strikes on Iranian nuclear sites last summer.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi is expected to meet U.S. Special Representative Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner in Istanbul later this week. Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said talks would proceed only if conducted without threats and within Iran’s national interests.

Tensions remain high. Trump has reinforced U.S. military presence in the region and warned of further action if Tehran refuses a new deal. Iran, meanwhile, has ruled out limits on its enriched uranium stockpiles.
Regional powers, including Turkey and Qatar, are backing diplomacy to avoid wider conflict.
