The United States and Iran are expected to hold separate consultations with Qatari mediators in New York as efforts continue to revive indirect negotiations over a proposed seven-day ceasefire.
The talks are expected to examine an amended proposal presented during the UN General Assembly.
President Donald Trump rejected the proposal publicly on Saturday, citing continued economic pressure on Iran. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi said Sunday that Tehran had not yet received formal notification of the decision through mediators.
Trump has said further negotiations could take place this week, while Iranian officials confirmed Araqchi’s schedule remains unchanged. It remains unclear who will represent Washington in the consultations, which are intended to examine the latest proposals and positions.
