US intelligence agencies postponed a classified briefing on foreign election threats after technical problems prevented officials from connecting to a scheduled video call, CNN reported, citing six people familiar with the matter.
The briefing was intended to update state and local election officials on potential threats from Russia, China and Iran. Representatives from the FBI, the Office of the Director of National Intelligence and the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency were expected to participate.
The disruption comes as federal agencies monitor possible foreign attempts to influence voters through cyberattacks and disinformation. CNN reported that federal election security coordination has been less consistent under the second Trump administration, following the restructuring of several programmes focused on foreign interference.
The administration has recently taken steps to rebuild some election security efforts, while concerns over preparedness remain.
