US counterterrorism and intelligence agencies have moved to a heightened alert posture following weekend US strikes on Iran, prompting increased security measures in major cities.
Federal Bureau of Investigation Director Kash Patel said federal teams were ordered to mobilize all necessary security assets, according to a post on X. The move comes as authorities investigate a mass shooting in Austin, Texas, where the suspect reportedly wore clothing linked to Iran.

Security has also been tightened at military installations. Camp Lejeune said US Northern Command directed heightened security at all entry points due to Middle East operations.
Police departments in Washington, New York City, and Los Angeles announced expanded patrols at transit hubs, religious sites, and sensitive locations. US Capitol Police said they remain in a sustained high threat environment.
