US Removes Syria From State Sponsor Of Terrorism List

The United States has removed Syria from its list of state sponsors of terrorism, easing restrictions intended to encourage investment and support the country's political and economic recovery.

The policy shift also includes the removal of the terrorist designation for Al-Nusrah Front, also known as Hay'at Tahrir al-Sham, which broke ties with Al-Qaeda in 2016.

The decision follows President Donald Trump's commitment to provide sanctions relief to Syria and comes after his meeting with Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa, who took office following the ouster of Bashar al-Assad in 2024.
