Authorities in Utah are preparing to present findings connecting serial killer Ted Bundy to another homicide from the 1970s, as Summit County officials move toward closing the decades-old case.

Advances in DNA testing have helped investigators establish links between Bundy and previously unresolved killings. Bundy was believed to have murdered at least 30 women and girls during the 1970s. Officials have not yet released the identity of the victim in the latest case.

Other Utah cold cases associated with Bundy include the 1974 killing of 17-year-old Melissa Ann Smith. In April, Utah County Sheriff’s Deputy Jake Hall announced that definitive evidence linked Bundy to the murder of Laura Ann Aime, who disappeared on Halloween in 1974.

Bundy was executed in Florida in 1989 for the murders of two women at Florida State University’s Chi Omega sorority house in 1978. Before his execution, he confessed to additional crimes that investigators had not previously solved.
