Vice President JD Vance and Second Lady Usha Vance welcomed their fourth child, Alec Neel Vance, on Sunday, according to a statement the couple shared on X.
Reported by CBS News, both mother and baby are healthy, and the family thanked the medical staff at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center for their care.
According to CBS News, the birth is believed to be the first time in modern U.S. history that a sitting vice president has welcomed a child while in office.
The report also cited Vance's recent book, in which he said he and Usha had discussed having another child for years. Usha Vance later said comments from Charlie Kirk's widow were moving, though not the sole reason behind the decision.
