Vice President JD Vance warned that Thanksgiving travel could descend into chaos if the Democrat-led government shutdown continues. Speaking at the White House after meeting Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy and aviation leaders, Vance said the ongoing stalemate threatens to cripple airports already strained by staffing shortages.
Vance cautioned that TSA agents and air traffic controllers, unpaid since the shutdown began, may be forced to skip work to support their families.

“It could be a disaster,” he said, noting that longer security lines and missed paychecks could trigger massive delays nationwide.

Federal employees are reportedly missing their third or fourth paycheck, echoing disruptions seen during the 2019 shutdown, the longest in U.S. history.
Vance urged Democrats to reopen the government to keep “the engine of commerce” running smoothly and ensure Americans can travel home for the holidays.
