Waltz And Wong Set To Leave Trump White House: CBS

White House national security adviser Mike Waltz speaks at the Conservative Political Action Conference, February 21, 2025, in Oxon Hill, Maryland

CBS has reported that National Security Adviser Mike Waltz and his deputy, Alex Wong, are set to leave their positions in the Trump White House on Thursday, according to multiple sources familiar with the matter. The White House has not yet commented on the departures.

Waltz’s tenure came under scrutiny in March after he mistakenly included The Atlantic's Jeffrey Goldberg in a Signal chat, revealing details of planned military strikes in Yemen. Despite the controversy, including the publication of operational details, Waltz did not resign, and President Trump publicly expressed support for him, calling him “a good man.”

CBS has published a report today stating that Mike Waltz and Alex Wong will be departing the White House

Sources close to the National Security Council say that Waltz and Wong’s departures will be framed as part of a reorganization, with enough time passing since the Signal incident.
