Medical experts and international health authorities are sounding the alarm as a fast-moving Ebola outbreak threatens to spiral out of control across central Africa.
Doctors on the ground warn the virus is currently spreading faster than response teams can track, driven by severe shortages of medical supplies, ongoing regional conflict, and unmonitored chains of transmission.

The vast majority of cases are concentrated in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC)—particularly in the eastern province of Ituri, as well as North Kivu, South Kivu, Haut-Uele, and Tshopo. Neighboring Uganda has also reported cross-border imported cases.
Because the current surge is caused by the rare Bundibugyo strain—for which there are currently no approved vaccines or targeted treatments—aid agencies and the Africa CDC are calling for urgent international intervention, funding, and clinical support to prevent a wider continental crisis.
