Republican Senator Josh Hawley said that Anthony Fauci, former chief adviser to the POTUS, lied about COVID-19 and enriched himself during the pandemic.
Fauci got rich during the pandemic, got a million dollars-plus in cash prizes that he solicited for himself from his federal office using federal employees during the pandemic, the Senator said.
Transcript:
Interviewer: “Senator, you asked some really penetrating questions today. I mean, I’ve got the whole list here in front of me. ‘What color are you wearing today?’ and all of these other — he wouldn’t answer a thing. As you listen to Gregg Jarrett’s legal analysis, are there options on the table, short of states like my state of Florida, going after him on the state level?”
Hawley: “I think there absolutely are, Sean. And I think the first one is to hold him in contempt of Congress. And I would just say this. As a lawyer, former attorney general of my state, when you get immunity — and he’s got it, he got immunity from Joe Biden — I wish he didn’t, but he’s got it, as much immunity as Hunter Biden has, when you get that, you can’t invoke the Fifth. And he came in today and invoked the Fifth because he’s guilty as all get out and he knows it. But it was wrong what he did today. He did not have the right to do it. I think we should hold him in contempt. And Sean, here’s just a little hint to viewers at home: Innocent people don’t invoke the Fifth. Fauci invoked it 111 times. You draw your own conclusion.”
Interviewer: “Well, you know, ‘What color tie are you wearing?’ ‘I decline to answer based on my right to the Fifth Amendment.’ ‘What day of the week is it?’ ‘I decline to answer. I decline to answer.’ ‘You had time to sit for the InStyle magazine.’ That was pretty powerful, Senator. How bad do you think this is? What do you glean not only from these diaries, but what we learned previously, what Senator Paul put in his book?”
Hawley: “Listen, I think it’s very, very bad. I think Fauci clearly lied about what he knew about the virus. He lied about Wuhan, he lied about funding it. Here’s the other thing. He got rich during the pandemic, Sean. He got a million dollars-plus in cash prizes that he solicited for himself from his federal office using federal employees during the pandemic. You think about this. A million Americans died, and what was Anthony Fauci doing at work? Anthony Fauci was out trying to get awards for himself, taking a million dollars in money. It was illegal, Sean, it was illegal to solicit that money. He did it anyway. That’s yet another of his crimes, and I mean there is nothing lower than that, getting rich while other people are suffering and dying.”
Interviewer: “So, contempt of Congress and then the states, his pardon, whether it’s legitimate or not, autopen or not, does not hold up in the states, he can be charged on a state level, correct?”
Hawley: “He certainly could be. The states could investigate him. I’m glad that they are. Congress can hold him in contempt. I hope that we will next week — and I hope the investigation will continue. I tell you what, though, Sean. The more we learn, the more we see what a crooked guy this was. I mean, he was just crooked from top to bottom. The fact that he would be sitting there taking this money, getting rich, lying about the virus, lying about the origins and promoting himself as the most important person in the world, this was a sick guy and he did tremendous damage to this country.”
