China and North Korea officially opened the New Yalu River Bridge on Thursday, unlocking their most vital land border crossing after more than a decade of delays.
The opening connects Dandong with North Korea's Sinuiju, paving the way to revitalize bilateral trade and economic cooperation following years of diplomatic friction and strict pandemic-era closures.
The modern four-lane span replaces the aging Sino-Korean Friendship Bridge, dramatically expanding freight capacity between the neighboring allies. Officials and regional analysts view the milestone as a key step toward deepening economic ties and restoring regular cross-border commercial traffic.
