A school-bus-sized piece of a SpaceX rocket that has been drifting through space since last year crashes into the moon at high speed, potentially creating a plume of lunar dust at Einstein Crater.

The rocket stage impacted the Moon’s western limb near Einstein Crater at a speed of about 5,400 mph, likely leaving a crater measuring roughly 60 feet across.
