Voters delivered a sweeping rebuke to President Donald Trump and his political allies in Tuesday’s midterm elections, handing Democrats decisive control of both the House and the Senate.
The Democratic wave surged across battleground swing states and traditionally reliable Republican strongholds alike. Democratic candidates notched monumental victories stretching from New Hampshire and North Carolina to shock upsets in deep-red states like Texas and South Carolina.
Driven by widespread public dissatisfaction with economic conditions and high presidential disapproval ratings, the historic wave flips the balance of power in Capitol Hill, establishing a formidable Democratic counterweight to the White House for the remainder of Trump's term.
