Residents in Nepal’s northern Nuwakot district returned to their communities on Wednesday to survey the ruin left by catastrophic flooding along the Nepal-China border.
Surging waters swept through the mountainous region, devastating homes, severing vital infrastructure, and burying livelihoods under layers of mud and debris. As floodwaters began to recede, families confronted the immense challenge of searching through the wreckage for salvageable belongings.
Local emergency crews and volunteers have deployed across the border district to assist survivors and coordinate rescue efforts, amidst fears that damaged roads could severely delay urgent relief supplies.
