A barrage of Russian ballistic missiles struck Ukraine’s capital in the early hours of Thursday, July 16, 2026, killing at least two people and injuring five others, including a 16-year-old boy, as Moscow intensifies its high-casualty aerial campaign against Ukrainian urban centers.

The attack triggered air-raid sirens across Kyiv shortly before 1:00 a.m.. Explosions echoed through the city as Ukraine’s air defense systems attempted to intercept at least four ballistic missiles detected by the Air Force.
Emergency responders rushed to contain the fallout in the Sviatoshynskyi and Darnytskyi districts, where falling debris and direct impacts ignited heavy blazes in warehouse and administrative facilities.
