The departures test a multi-million-euro border security agreement signed by London and Paris last April, which introduced heightened police patrols, advanced surveillance, and stricter enforcement along French shores to curb unauthorized sea crossings.
Despite these enhanced countermeasures, groups continue to brave the high-risk maritime passage toward the United Kingdom, highlighting the persistent challenges facing both governments in disrupting small-boat departures.
