Universal Studios Hollywood's new Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift roller coaster is drawing complaints from residents in the nearby Toluca Lake neighborhood, who say riders' screams have become a persistent source of noise.

According to local residents, the attraction produces loud, frequent screaming that can be heard even with windows and doors closed.

The report said the outdoor coaster, which reaches speeds of up to 72 mph and features rotating ride vehicles, has been undergoing test runs ahead of its official opening. Universal says the design includes 360-degree rotating cars to simulate drifting.

According to the company, sound shields were installed along sections of the track and pea gravel was added to help reduce noise.

Some residents acknowledged those efforts but said the effectiveness varies from day to day.

While several neighbors said the park has become louder over the years, others urged perspective, noting there are more pressing issues than roller coaster noise despite their concerns about the impact on the community.
