The Trump administration has refunded about $100 billion in tariff payments collected under President Donald Trump's 2025 "Liberation Day" tariffs, according to a court filing submitted Tuesday.
The filing said the refunds represent roughly 60% of the approximately $166 billion collected under tariffs imposed using the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA).
The report said U.S. Customs and Border Protection launched the Consolidated Administration and Processing of Entries (CAPE) system to process claims.
As of July 31, officials had received more than 252,000 refund declarations covering over 25 million import entries. Nearly $129 billion in refund claims has been accepted, with about $100 billion already certified and forwarded to the Treasury Department for payment.
The refund process remains ongoing, with hundreds of thousands of importers still awaiting reimbursement.
