White House Says Secret FBI Probe Against Trump Lacked Evidence

The White House on Wednesday declassified information related to a previously undisclosed FBI investigation that examined whether President Donald Trump acted on Russia's behalf when he dismissed FBI Director James Comey in 2017.

According to CBS News, the inquiry, known as Oxferd Comma, was part of the broader Crossfire Hurricane investigation into alleged links between Trump's 2016 campaign and Russia.

A White House official said the investigation was opened after Comey's firing but was ultimately folded into Special Counsel Robert Mueller's probe.

The official added that the inquiry was later found to have no merit and claimed evidence available at the time did not support allegations that Trump or his campaign colluded with Russia.

According to the report, Mueller ultimately found no evidence that the Trump campaign conspired or coordinated with Russia, although it documented contacts with Russian-linked individuals. Trump has repeatedly criticized the FBI's Russia investigations as politically motivated.
