The White House has officially joined TikTok, even as the app’s future in the United States remains uncertain. The Biden-era “sale-or-ban” law requires TikTok’s Chinese parent company, ByteDance, to sell to a U.S. buyer or face a nationwide ban.
President Donald Trump has repeatedly delayed enforcement, with the next deadline now set for September 17.
Trump’s extensions have kept the app available to its 170 million American users, despite bipartisan concerns over Beijing’s potential access to U.S. user data.

TikTok briefly went offline when the law took effect in January 2025, but returned after Trump delayed enforcement in one of his first acts of his second term.
The new White House account’s debut video features Trump declaring, “I am your voice,” followed by the caption: “America we are BACK! What’s up TikTok?” Within hours, the account drew more than 20,000 followers.
Trump has previously praised the app, saying it helped him connect with younger voters and boost support in his win over Kamala Harris. https://t.co/urvU9h6cZx
