White House Opposes Anthropic Plan To Expand AI Access

The White House is pushing back against Anthropic over plans to widen access to its powerful Mythos AI model, reported by The Wall Street Journal. The company had proposed expanding access from select partners to about 120 firms, including major tech players like Apple, Microsoft, and Nvidia.

According to the report, officials in President Donald Trump’s administration raised concerns about cybersecurity risks and whether Anthropic has the computing capacity to support wider access without affecting government use. The model has not been publicly released due to fears it could be exploited by hackers.

Tensions between the administration and Anthropic had escalated earlier, with the government halting use of its tools over national security concerns. While recent talks signaled some easing, the dispute continues.

The report also said Anthropic is probing unauthorized access to Mythos, adding to scrutiny around the technology.
