The U.S. House of Representatives voted to limit President Donald Trump's authority to continue military operations against Iran without congressional approval, according to CNN.
The resolution passed 214-208, with four Republicans joining Democrats in support, marking the latest congressional challenge to the administration's handling of the conflict.
Although the vote represents a significant political rebuke, the resolution does not carry the force of law because concurrent resolutions are not sent to the president for approval or veto.
According to the report, this is the second time the House has sought to curb the president's war powers, though it is the first such vote since the breakdown of the bilateral understanding between Washington and Tehran.
Some Democrats argue the resolution could still carry legal weight despite ongoing debate over its constitutional effect.
